I agree 100% that the Clois was pushed to the background in the second half of the season because of the immature fanboy pandering and bitching. And I absolutely think that the only reason they didn't have the rings in 2018 was to pander to that exact same crowd.
The irony, to me, is that I have yet to encounter even one of those fans who I think actually UNDERSTAND Superman---what he stands for, who he is--what makes him a hero. The ShoE guys are different. They are mature. They get it. They understand Superman and Clark. But the majority of those boys that post on Ksite or Twitter and bitch and moan about the "mythos" and the "suit" etc. know virtually nothing about Superman. So seriously....if you are trying to pander to them....you are not gonna have the right result.
One of the tell tale signs that I'm going to tune a person out is when they says, "Us comic fans want this but the show is obsessed with shippers." You know what immature 15 year olds?? There are a shitload of comic fans who care deeply about the relationships both in the comics and on the show. Stop trying to pretend that there is a universal way to be a mythos fan. There's not. And caring about the relationships within the source material and how they translate on the show doesn't make a person any less of an authentic mythos fan. I grew so tired of that shit by the end. And THAT is the group that the show tried to pander to with the Lex mindwipe and with Clois not having the rings.
That is also the group that is treating Tom Welling like absolute crap right now and I can't stand it. It makes me sick. It's disgusting behavior and frankly....I'll be blunt: I think all those immature little boys could learn a thing or two both from Clark Kent the character---the character they claim to love so much---AND from the class act who has portrayed him for the last 10 years about what it really means to be a man. There I said it.
